Description
Battery-Free Piezoelectric Auto Ignition
Finding a reliable auto-ignition stove in the budget tier is notoriously difficult. Most cheap electric ignition systems break down within months. The Butterfly Rapid 2 Burner entirely bypasses this by utilizing a Piezoelectric Ignition System. This means it does not require an external electrical plug point or replaceable D-cell batteries. When you push and turn the knob, a mechanical friction mechanism generates a high-voltage spark that instantly lights the brass burner. It provides immense daily convenience, eliminating the need to frantically search for a gas lighter while handling hot oil.
The Auto-Ignition Discipline Check
While highly convenient, piezoelectric systems demand strict cooking discipline. The spark is generated by a small ceramic pin situated right next to the brass burner. If you habitually allow milk, tea, or thick dal to boil over and drown the burners, the liquid will coat the ceramic pin. A wet or grease-coated pin cannot generate a spark. To keep the auto-ignition functioning flawlessly, you must wipe up spills immediately and keep the burner area bone-dry.
6mm Glass Armor and Spill-Proof Trays
While 6mm glass is considered a shatter-risk on massive 4-burner hobs, it is perfectly adequate for a compact 2-burner setup where the total surface area and thermal stress are significantly lower. The 6mm Toughened Glass on the Butterfly Rapid easily supports standard family cookware without bowing. Underneath the heavy-duty brass burners, Butterfly has integrated Spill-Proof Stainless Steel Trays. These tightly fitted trays prevent boiled-over liquids from leaking down into the internal gas manifold, protecting the core mechanics from rusting and making surface clean-up remarkably easy.
The 360-Degree Revolving Back Nozzle
A highly underrated feature for compact kitchens is the 360-degree revolving gas inlet nozzle located at the rear of the stove. Standard stoves have a fixed, straight nozzle, which forces your thick rubber gas pipe to bend awkwardly if your LPG cylinder is stored on the left or right side of the counter. This sharp bending can cause the pipe to crack over time. The revolving nozzle on the Butterfly Rapid swivels freely, allowing you to route the gas pipe smoothly in any direction, preventing hazardous kinks and saving valuable countertop depth.
Target Demographics: Is the Butterfly Rapid Right For You?
Sitting in the highly accessible sub-₹3,500 budget tier, the Butterfly Rapid 2 Burner Auto Ignition is the perfect upgrade for bachelors, students, or small nuclear families who want the sleek look of black glass and the convenience of a lighter-free kitchen. Provided you are not a notoriously messy cook who constantly floods the stovetop, the mechanical auto-ignition will serve you well for daily, standard meal preparations.
⚠️ Dealbreaker Alert: Pipeline Gas (PNG) Incompatibility
Do not purchase this stove if your apartment building supplies Piped Natural Gas (PNG) through a wall meter. Out of the box, the brass burner nozzles are strictly calibrated for the high pressure of bottled LPG cylinders. If you connect this to a PNG line without having a technician swap the internal jets, the flame will be dangerously low, yellow, and completely inefficient for cooking.
User Intent FAQ & Troubleshooting
Why is my auto-ignition clicking but not lighting the gas?
This is almost always due to moisture or grease. The ceramic spark pin near the burner must be completely dry to generate a spark. If you recently washed the stove or spilled food, dry the white ceramic pin thoroughly with a dry microfiber cloth or a hairdryer. Once completely dry, it will spark again.
Where do I put the battery for the ignition?
You don’t! The Butterfly Rapid uses a piezoelectric ignition system. It relies on the mechanical friction of turning the knob to generate the spark, meaning it never requires replacement batteries or an electrical outlet.
Can I still use a gas lighter if the auto-ignition stops working?
Absolutely. If the ceramic pin breaks or gets permanently soaked, you can simply push the knob, turn it to release the gas, and use a standard manual gas lighter or matchstick to ignite the burner, just like a regular stove.

Test Kitchen Recommended Pairings
To safely install your new auto-ignition stove and protect the pristine 6mm black glass, we highly recommend adding these essentials to your cart:
Steel Braided LPG Safety Hose (ISI)
Never install a new glass top stove with an old, brittle rubber gas pipe. A steel-braided, rat-proof ISI safety hose is strictly required to prevent microscopic gas leaks and devastating kitchen fires.
✔ Mandatory Safety Upgrade
Microfiber Glass Cleaning Cloths
Using abrasive kitchen sponges will permanently scratch the 6mm black glass. A dedicated pack of ultra-soft microfiber cloths paired with standard liquid cleaner will lift heavy oil splatters without causing cosmetic damage.
✔ Essential Maintenance Tool

Test Kitchen Showdown: Butterfly Rapid Auto vs. Prestige & Pigeon
Finding a reliable auto-ignition system in a budget 2-burner stove is notoriously difficult. Manufacturers often use cheap ceramic spark plugs that break down within the first few months, leaving you searching for a lighter anyway. To see if the Butterfly Rapid 2 Burner Auto Ignition actually delivers long-term convenience, we ran it head-to-head against the industry’s legacy benchmark—the Prestige Magic 2 Burner Auto Ignition—and the reigning ultra-budget champion, the Pigeon by Stovekraft 2 Burner Auto Ignition.
During our side-by-side evaluations in our Kerala test kitchen, we focused heavily on spark reliability and spatial ergonomics. We deliberately spilled starchy rice water over all three ignition pins to test their moisture recovery, loaded the 6mm glass tops with heavy 5-litre pressure cookers to check for chassis flex, and analyzed how easily the stoves could be pushed flush against the kitchen wall without dangerously crimping the LPG safety hoses.

Reality Check 1: The “Brand Tax” on 2-Burner Stoves
When evaluating a 2-burner stove, you must ask if paying nearly ₹5,000 for a legacy brand is mathematically justifiable. The Prestige Magic Auto is undeniably excellent, featuring robust Tri-Pin burners. However, it uses the exact same 6mm toughened glass thickness as the Butterfly Rapid, which costs significantly less. While Prestige offers an extra year of warranty, the core structural integrity between the two is virtually identical. Butterfly delivers 90% of the premium performance while completely avoiding the heavy legacy brand tax.
Reality Check 2: The 360-Degree Nozzle Lifesaver
In cramped bachelor pads or narrow apartment kitchens, countertop depth is precious. The Prestige uses a traditional fixed gas nozzle that protrudes straight out the back, forcing your stiff rubber LPG hose to bend sharply against the wall. This sharp bend creates a dangerous pressure point that can lead to micro-cracks and gas leaks over time. Both the Butterfly and the Pigeon integrate a 360-degree revolving nozzle. This allows you to smoothly route the heavy safety hose left or right without any kinking, allowing the stove to sit much flush against the kitchen tiles.
Reality Check 3: Piezoelectric Durability
All three models use battery-free piezoelectric ignition, but build quality varies wildly. The knobs on the ultra-budget Pigeon are notoriously stiff; attempting to force them when jammed often snaps the internal plastic spindle. The Butterfly Rapid offers a much smoother push-and-turn mechanism that mirrors the tactile feel of the more expensive Prestige. Provided you keep the ceramic spark pins bone-dry and free from boiled-over milk, the Butterfly’s ignition module provides reliable, long-term sparking.
🎯 The Definitive Buying Verdict
- Buy the Butterfly Rapid Auto (2B) if: You want a highly reliable auto-ignition stove from a trusted brand without paying an exorbitant premium. The smooth piezo ignition and brilliant 360-degree revolving nozzle make it the absolute smartest buy in the sub-₹3,500 category.
- Buy the Prestige Magic Auto (2B) if: You are strictly brand-loyal, want the slight efficiency boost of Tri-Pin brass burners, and are willing to pay a heavy premium just to secure a 2-Year comprehensive warranty.
- Buy the Pigeon Auto Ignition (2B) if: You are a student outfitting a temporary hostel room on the absolute tightest budget and only need an entry-level glass top for light, occasional cooking.

After 13 month of usage it’s leaking and automatic ignition not working, customer service and company service person not yet resolved the problem.they are asking money for every time but complaint not resolved.
Very worst company service
If you planing to buy this product please think twice if you getting any issues with this product then you will not get any solution from company service
Nevil –
This is a bad and STUPID product. Better get yourselves a similarly price manual stove of a DIFFERENT brand and a gas lighter, than this.
Pros̶: Automatic ignition is the best I’ve used in a gas stove. It works 4/10 times, on first try and 8/10 times, on the second try.
Cons:
Had Yellow Flame issue within a week and went to the service center with the stove. Not only did they not fix that, they even said that “This is how it is. This is a cheap stove and hence it will only support small vessels as it only has air gap for the same. You should have visited our showroom to buy stoves that support big vessels”.
Now I’m having low flame issue on the big burner. Now my small burner works faster than the big burner.
Oh, and the knobs also broke within a month.
So, to summarize, 𝑴𝑶𝑺𝑻 𝑶𝑭 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑺𝑻𝑼𝑭𝑭 𝑶𝑵 𝑴𝒀 𝑺𝑻𝑶𝑽𝑬 𝑩𝑹𝑶𝑲𝑬 𝑾𝑰𝑻𝑯𝑰𝑵 𝑨 𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑻𝑯.
For added context: My last stove was a manual and I have been using it for the past 15 years, without any issues. Got this stove as we wanted an automatic stove and not because the previous one broke.
I have made amends to the fact that I have made a big mistake buying this and will soon have to buy another stove. So please don’t make the same mistake as me.
